About Us.

Founded in 2023, the East Lyme Education Foundation (ELEF) is a non-profit, non-partisan, tax-exempt organization. Our mission is to promote and enhance public school education in the Town of East Lyme through financial support of education, enrichment programs, and innovative initiatives beyond the limits of the school budget.

With the help of Lauren McNamara and Michael Boucher, who donated their professional services, our foundation was established in 2023 and received a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status from the IRS.

The Need for a Foundation.

Our founders, Ryan Shrader, Barbara Senges, and Tim Hagen, are former members of the East Lyme Board of Education. Their time on the board made them realize how beneficial an Education Foundation could be for our schools.

We have a great school district, supportive parents, and committed  teachers. Our primary mission is to fundraise so our teachers can focus on the students.

There are 94 education foundations in Connecticut, including 10 in New London County. We feel it's time for East Lyme to join them to provide our students with equally enriching educational opportunities.
